Laura Bankey, Director of Conservation at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, guides us through the Fort McHenry Wetland. This 7-acre protected marsh was created in the 1980's as mitigation for the Fort McHenry Tunnel, and it provides critical habitat for wildlife in this heavily industrialized portion of the Chesapeake Bay. However, trash and debris are a major problem that must be managed through the help of community volunteers. *** Change settings to watch in High Resolution*** Brew at Zoo is one of the most important fundraisers that supports the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. It was held this year over the Memorial Day weekend May 27-28, 2017. We bought tickets for Sunday the 28 because tickets for Saturday were sold out. I had fun enjoying the wildlife, listening to the music, and drinking! I am not much of a beer drinker but by tasting so many beers I finally found some that I like. In this episode I also discuss why I support the zoo and not the circus. Multiple people for the last couple of months have been asking me that question. I've always given a answer but never really went into depth about my reason for supporting but in this episode I did. I hope you guys enjoy the episode, wildlife, music, bee...
African Safari expert/author Peter Riva has made the profound comparison between the Baltimore Riots and African Safaris, but instead of a tropic jungle this battle is fought in the concrete jungle of Baltimore. Said Riva, “When threatened: Hoof animals in a herd behave with unstoppable flight. Buffalo in a herd run only so long before turning and becoming the most feared adversary for hunters. Once they turn, only violence - win or lose - can stop them. “Chimpanzees and bonobo apes and baboons behave with gang aggression when other animals threaten them. Yes they seek refuge up trees or rocks, but often take stones up into trees as weapons. When we filmed them at a refugee camp near Mt. Kenya run by Jane Goodall, they even pelted the elephants who were breaking in to steal their bananas...
